Braehead Shopping Centre, UK

The Braehead shopping centre opened in late 1999 and comprises 98,474 m² of retail and leisure floorspace. The centre has 110 shops in the main covered mall and a further 10 in a retail park of larger stores. The site is located off the M8, 5 miles west from Glasgow centre, on Kings Inch Road.

The THERMOSPAN team supplied the very distinctive car park/walkway canopy, which was made from 13.5mm shaped laminated glass; comprising two panes of 6mm clear float glass drilled, toughened and heat soaked. Toughened glass provides the necessary strength for structural glazing and laminated glass to maintain integrity should fracture occur.
